                I was mesmerized by the beauty of knowing definitions of the words and concepts. As I've continued to learn through online platforms, I realize that I have a voice to be heard by anybody else and I learn a lot from my classmates wherein they have amazing strategies and ideas that inspire. 

     I am glad to meet new people even if it synchronous class where we only see the beautiful faces of each other. From a traditional way of learning to a modernized classroom. Logging in to Gmeet and Zoom to have our class was an unforgettable experience because it becomes a way for us to feel that we were in a classroom setting. In a virtual way of introducing ourselves, we are able to share ideas and opinions about a particular topic. It was fun and sometimes exciting because of answering brain teases that boast our cognitive thinking and problem-solving.

         Creativity is one of the rubrics that leaves me a great lesson wherein, we can create better work as we exert effort. After having a plan next is to have materials, through the support of our family, friends and classmates we are able to create a masterpiece that symbolizes who I am as an individual. Ourselves, where our willingness to learn manifests. 

                  "Entering my classroom as an introvert and studying hard would be enough", a phrase that comes into my mind at the beginning of the class. But upon hearing a lot of discussions from our teacher, I've come to realize that being part of the class, participation is needed to have interaction. The time comes and we are able to be familiar with the names of our classmates. Being strangers to each other becomes an exciting way to know each. As the months passed by, our worlds and activities were amazing to view. I learn that respect matters to my teacher and to my classmate.   

            

 

             To be able to improve myself, I need to continue learning and unlearning false information. Opening the pages of the books has the goal to understand and reading below the lines. Also to memorize the necessary details that are needed to accomplish a particular task. 

    During group work, I have met strict groupmates that are helpful because, in times of online class, we need to gain knowledge through brainstorming, where everyone will join and no one will be exempted. We have experience nights where we continue to finish some required experiments until it was fully rechecked, we then become ready to submit the task. Through cooperation, we are able to provide the appropriate answers. As we encounter group activities, on our way were individual activities that we cherished and willing to accept as part of the course. It is through loving the course and dedicating our own efforts for our future, that we can apply it.

                   

                 

              

                 

 Everyone has their own spot, where a parent could be proud. As I enter my online class, I was able to hear inspiring stories of my classmates as part of the synchronous class. An individual with a broken family but continues to strive for a dream, believing unto himself that he is capable.            She is a working student, who dreams high dedicated to her mother and siblings. A student who continues to face life amidst the grief that she felt. A mother who continues her studies and providing the needs of her child. We are living in a society where everyone deserves to be respected and to be loved, no matter what is their situation or status in life.

 

           In society, I am one of the students who have dreams to fulfil and it was amazing to continue learning who at the same time a responsible daughter, friend and citizen of society. I am an individual, building up the foundations of my life.

Title : I'm Present

      

       

                                

            Looking at the past years when the pandemic started. It was morning and they announced on the television that there will be no classes for one week. I remembered the last statement that I have told my friend, "See you tomorrow", words that are hopeful to see and go around again at the school campus but it was unexpected that it will be the last face-to-face classes that I will encounter. A lot got affected due to the COVID - 19, which affects the living of every individual as observed on social media.  Indeed, it is the start of a new day for a new strategy. It was a sunny morning, as I woke up in the bed where I hear a bird singing realizing it is safe in the province after hearing about the dangerous effect of the virus, particularly in crowded places like the city. During those days that I stayed in the province, I've learned to wake up early to be able to do some household chores and to be early to help in harvesting the vegetable of our neighbors. It was amazing because again in that time I realized that we are planting for the best harvest like farmers who provide the needed fertilizers for the specific vegetable and to be able to grow it takes months; they are continuously taking care by visiting their garden to remove the leeches. For a student to be able to be productive we need to have books and teachers to explain elaborate knowledge that will last for a long period of time. 

                          

               Moving forward as months pass by and "It is a time to continue what I have started", a statement that touches my mind and heart as I start to join the first online class. It becomes possible because of my family who was supporting me along the way. Also, to my peers with whom I communicate. 

                      

           "Good morning class and welcome to our new synchronous class", is the sign to start the day with coffee and bread, waking up from the comfort of the bed.

                      

 Being able to join the online class is a way to absorb information that will guide us to continue the face-to-face class but it is the virtual way that it is only on the screen we see our new classmates. A “hello” is a good start for an introduction to introduce ourselves. During the first meeting, it was good because I observed that every individual of us have different vibes that make the class have interactions. We have a classmate that is shy in front of a lot of people but when it comes to the online classes, she is on the screen she becomes more active. Also as the months pass by, she was able to conquer her fear. 

I was actually nervous before virtual class started but I realize that being shy will not make you more forward in learning and there is a need for courage to cooperate with our groupmates in terms of group activities. 

           

                          

I wake up early to have breakfast and can have our class in our bed as I fix my hair and also washed my face for the open camera session in every synchronous class. It was a good practice to be presentable in front of my teacher and classmate. Some would require an open camera but others consider a not open camera checking attendance, rest assured that the student can unmute and say “present”. 

As a student who is virtually learning, I am happy to see my classmates even on the screen. Also when I see those smiles coming from our Professor while teaching us. The interest is being created as they provide us the ideas that make that contribute to our stocked knowledge. 

Although it becomes possible to have class, sometimes we encounter some internet connection problems because of the weather; the clouds covering up the sky make it impossible for the Wi-Fi to absorb the signal. It should not become a hindrance to continuing learning, I learn to communicate with my classmate to ask about the discussion and it is a good way to gain info as I read notes provided in the canvas. When the time also that my classmate inquire to me about the some of the topics, I learn to help by giving them the necessary except for the answer that measures how far did we learn. 

We were once trained not to cheat in every activity such as exams and it is a good disciplinary action besides attending every class.  

Participation matters in every synchronous class, as we advance and read our notes. We raise our hands to answer questions coming from our professors. 

Once, one of my groupmates told me that there is also a need for self-study because some of the teachers provided notes and videos without meeting us for elaboration. It was a bit challenging so perseverance matters as we hold on to the dreams that we once started. 

                             

It was already 3RD TRIMESTER and the sleepless nights becomes worth it. There were times when we quarrel with our groupmates but in the end, we realize we are a team and we need to accomplish the task. We learn to be responsible in passing our contribution to the one who is assigned to finalize the output. Our classmates play a big role in our study because we once pass the 1st and 2nd trimesters through the cooperation that we provided in the group.

   

                       

Results were in our hands, and the efforts we provided created our grades. Every day is a new reason to wake up, and learning is the best reason open the Zoom and Gmeet applications for the scheduled class. 

We gain knowledge that matters in our career as they say “Education is the key to success”. Still to be continued because I’m still walking learning along the way. It is still a milestone.

            A piece of false or misleading information is presented as news. It often aims to damage the reputation of a person or entity or make money through advertising revenue. Be critical thinkers towards everything you see online. Information is only reliable as the people who are receiving it. 

        If readers do not change or improve thier ability to seek out and identify reliable information sources, the information environment will not improve, Koller, J.,(n.d).

Read the past headline. 

Check what news outlet published it.

Check published date and time 
Who is the Author?

Look at what links or sources are used. 

Look for questionable quotes or photos.

Beware of confirmation bias.

Search if other news outlets are reporting it.

                    Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, immediately talk to the media after encountering false statements on the social media platforms, it was credited to him about corruption in the Philippine Politics.   

                              

                        A statement coming from the Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was fake news and it is an example of an edited quotation.  

                

            Atong Ong has been exposed to the media about his statement against his unsupported candidate Bongbong Marcos Jr. It was confirmed to be fake news after asked him about his views in regards to politics.   

After the HALALAN2022, a lot of fake news flooded the newsfeeds of FACEBOOK and the wall of TWITTER. It was also observed and heard in the youtube videos created by unreliable resources such as biased supporters of Official Candidates running for a higher position with a goal to create a false issue about the other party list or group.

    ENTERTAINMENT/SHOWBIZ

                

           Bea Alonzo was becomes pregnant in the digital world but not in real life.  It was totally a piece of fake news, wherein the photo is observed to be edited particularly the face of actor Gerald Anderson and it was obvious but netizens tend to believe it because of their popularity as couples in the industry of showbiz. But at the end of the day, it was confirmed that the actress is far from being pregnant because on her official Instagram account as one of the reliable sources of her lifestyle, she is into creating a healthy body and going to other places for donation.

 

A false post about an interview of Boy Abunda with actress Kris Aquino was disseminated on Facebook. It came from an unreliable source that was shared on social media as it is the time when the hottest topic was the Aquino Family. Fake news targets are individuals who are famous in the showbiz. The ones that could create issues or allegations about an actress are bashers who are against a person. 

        Sharon Cuneta was victimized by fake news, it came out from the website Asia News that the actress treated that she was HIV - Positive. In contrast, Fashion Pulis's website stated it was misinformation as they support the actress. 

                

               We can't stop fake news from being made but we stop sharing it.

                During the SEA Games, a picture of the Philippine National Flag was used as table clothing and it was disseminated on FACEBOOK.  The public was immediately informed that it was fake news and the photos are learned to be coming from other websites as it was only for exposure. 

                                      

                 A photo of a packed lunch was confirmed to be misinformation because it didn't come from the photos of the real SEA Games Journalist reports.

               

               A circulating false picture of the venue of the SEA Games was visible in the media but as it reach thousands of viewers, the real venue was exposed to the different social media platforms.

            It becomes viral but in the next minute, it was false information. Even if it is relevant to the latest time, wherein a lot of students are looking for an announcement about the school days for public school misinformation didn't make it to the end because it was detected to be coming out from unreliable sources.  

              

               It was fake news that Grade 13 will be implemented as a continuation to the Senior High School. It was misinformation coming from the DepEd Secretary  Leonor Briones. 

             

     

                 A fake announcement was removed after it was known by the official TESDA department. A lot realize that it is not true and even their is a date specified it did not come from the official school.

                          Fake news spreads faster than coronavirus, do not be a carrier.

       Information regarding red zone areas is confirmed to be fake news as the Department of Health warns the public about the misinformation about COVID- 19. 

                                        

       World Health Organization admits that the polio outbreak in the Philippines caused polio vaccine outbreak caused by vaccine-derived poliovirus type 2. It was then come out as false news Even if it was published in websites it was known to be untrue because it coming from wrong source. It is true it must be officially heard on the Philippine news T.V.

  

           

               Another fake news is about the SARS or so-called CoV-2 mutation in Pampanga Philippines. It is also conformed to be misleading wrong information coming from the reliable source and that is no other than the  Department of Health.

                 We are living in a time that almost everyone has access to an internet connection, and only those who are still in remote areas cannot be able to hear the latest news. It takes a fast internet connection to be able to communicate in the online world. It started by collecting information from the involved person and looking at every detail as the new editors turn on the topics that can be watched on television. Internet connection leads to active socialization in the online world by following legitimate sources. People use mobile devices for browsing and surfing while others used laptops as a way of gaining info that will be shared with their family, peers, neighbors, and other concerned citizen in a community. It provides consistent information about the things that are needed to be known by the public.

                                           

            The latest and newest happenings in local and international places have been heard and witnessed by the majority as they click the screen. News is published in real-time, as soon as something happened it gets covered on online sites. If not the news editors will be left behind as citizens start to discuss on Twitter and other similar social media platforms. Essential voice provides essential information. Minorities and others will be represented as they start to voice out their situation, and everybody will lend their ears to hear because everyone is interested in the story, particularly when it becomes trending. It involves social media responses from different viewers as they have researched other sources that can be found on different websites.

       

 

Digital journalism is also known as online journalism is a contemporary form of journalism where editorial content is distributed via the Internet as opposed to publishing via print or broadcast.

Online journalism is a process that has been in use for the past years by newspaper industries, Journalists report facts produced and distributed through the INTERNET. It has been noticed that people no longer buy the printed out newspapers except they want to keep them for reference purposes but the internet users see it as a readily available and less costly network, (KKKUK - 2019).

Cost-effective: The cost of publishing online is affordable compared to the huge financial commitments involved in setting up a conventional newspaper house, including daily publication costs and staff salaries.

 Convergence of roles: The roles of a reporter and an editor are blurred as one person can perform such duties and others as computer typesetting.

Fast and convenient: Publishing online is both fast and convenient. You post news updates at the click of a button without stress.

Checks waste: The loss of resources arising from unsold copies of newspapers is prevented.

 Quick feedback: The feedback mechanism in online journalism is better and faster than the Letter to the Editor section of a mainstream newspaper. Admins can almost immediately respond to comments and feel the pulse of their visitors.

Humanness: The audience can feel the human ‘presence’ behind an online publication because of the interaction possible at both ends.

      It is in our hands that we choose to click the most reliable source amidst of increasing number of websites that are being formed. Stay informed of the latest events in our society in terms of our economy, politics, tourism, and others. Let's be responsible for sharing information starting from our Facebook accounts, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr. etc. 

       Let us be online and be responsible netizens, where everybody will be able to encounter the right information by avoiding the share the wrong information. Also, learning to read the whole news in its detail, avoiding shortcuts. It will help to minimize disinformation that can lead to fake news. Let us hear every journalist on reliable websites and still read published newspapers that would broaden our understanding and helps our thoughts or ideas to clear.  We are a bridge to every people that we will meet along the way, as they ask about the incident, we are going to provide the right information. Let us continue to be informed learn from every journalist and give importance to everyone who is behind the lens of unfiltered news. It leads us to a more innovative and diverse society.

New Chapter

Title : New Chapter

    Another day passes by and love arouses that greatly impacts the beauty of each day. We are together with our parents ever since we start to walk on the path that was full of love and comfort. In times of trouble, positivity vanishes a negative outlook in life. Every second matters to share the love with someone who deserves it. We are looking upward to give thanks for another day because we live; still breathing and conscious. In life, I have learned that a relationship with a family builds a foundation of values and virtues that lightens up our minds and keep our hearts keeps pumping.

 We are one moving forward amidst the challenges that surround the environment. Unexpected scenarios would come but we hold on to each as loving and caring to every individual at home. The called house creates a new chapter that will be full of wonderful journeys with the new characters that will be involved. The last chapter can be read once again to cheer up in continuing the next chapter and now is the new chapter... 

   

          We are bound to love and share the catastrophic chapters.

In times of pandemic, every day is a blessing because we still breath. We still view the wonderful and wide sky. Amidst of the things that make us unhappy, we are full of gratitude because we are alive, physically, emotionally, and mentally. The  breath of life in experiencing another day that leads to a inspiring journey. As we look up, we are holding on the positive thoughts where the negative vanishes.
